Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Limbaugh on Wednesday announced his intention to seek another term as prosecutor.
Limbaugh, a Republican, was appointed prosecuting attorney in December 2012 to replace Morley Swingle, who left the position to take a job as a federal prosecutor.
In a news release Wednesday, Limbaugh called the prospect of continuing in the position "an honor."
"This position has given me the profound opportunity to serve the community where I grew up and a place that I have always called home," he said in the release. "Over the past 14 months, I have devoted myself to the duties and responsibilities of the office and have sought to pursue justice with an even hand. It would be an honor to continue my career in public service as prosecuting attorney for an additional four years."
Former state Rep. Mary Kasten is Limbaugh's honorary campaign chairwoman, and Cory Daniel, commercial relationship manager at Montgomery Bank, is campaign treasurer, the release stated.
Limbaugh, a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School, was in private practice with The Limbaugh Law Firm before being appointed prosecuting attorney.
