A public forum to discuss the needs of Missouri's public libraries and possible sources for state-wide funding will be held Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, 711 N. Clark.
This is one of several regional forums planned throughout the state to focus attention on public libraries. Representatives from the Missouri State Library and the Missouri Library Association will attend to share information and answer questions.
A special focus of these forums will be information on House Bill 978, recently filed by Rep. Mary Hagan-Harrell of St. Louis. This bill would ask Missouri voters to approve a one-eighth of one cent sales tax which would be deposited in a special trust fund, the "State Library Services Trust Fund." The money would be used to improve library services.
