The audience will learn unique ways to make quilts and the benefits of walking at two Cape Girardeau Public Library presentations.
The first, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 10, will feature Judy Robinson talking about how to combine quilting and computers. She will demonstrate how to design a quilt using particular programs and where to go on the Internet to access quilting information.
Robinson is a professional home economist for Scott City Public Schools. She is a founding member of the River Heritage Quilt Guild and has been quilting for 13 years. She also teaches quilting at the Sewing Basket and offers workshops.
At 7 p.m. on Feb. 15, Marsha Holloway, health promotion specialist for St. Francis Medical Center, will talk about the overall benefits of regular walking and how it can impact a person's health. She will include information on proper shoe selection, appropriate dress, monitoring the heart and use of a buddy system.
Holloway has been with St. Francis for nearly two years and is a certified therapeutic recreation specialist.
Both programs are free and open to the public. Accommodations for library patrons with disabilities will be made upon request.
