The Cape Girardeau Public Works Department began contracted road work on Lexington Avenue on Wednesday. Lexington Avenue, between Sherwood Drive and Cape Rock Drive, will have lane shifts, and traffic will be reduced to one lane in some areas as contract crews perform concrete slab repair and replacement. Work will continue for a approximately five weeks. The department urges drivers to use caution while driving through work zones and to consider alternate routes.
