Cape Girardeau police responded to the accident around 9:52 a.m. Two people were taken to a local hospital for injuries, and one was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton said the man, 65-year-old Everet Jaco of Nevada, Mo., was likely killed by a heart attack before impact, causing the accident. Since this was a natural death, no autopsy will be performed, Clifton said.

Jaco's wife was the passenger, and she sustained an arm injury, police said.
