Whitney A. Sibley of Cape Girardeau has been awarded a Regents' Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2004-2005 academic year. A graduate of Central High School, she is the daughter of Allen and Sharon Sibley of Cape Girardeau.
Illinois student gets scholarship to SEMO
Corina E. Groves of Thebes, Ill., has been awarded a Regional Achievement Award to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2004-2005 academic year. The scholarship is open to transfer students from Illinois community colleges in a 35-county region. A 2004 graduate of Egyptian High School, she is the daughter of Robyn Walden of Thebes and Edwin Groves Jr. of Parkville, Mo.
Cheney named to high school Who's Who
Robert Cheney Jr. of Jackson has been nominated to Who's Who Among American High School Students. Cheney is an incoming junior at Jackson High School. He is the son of the Rev. Robert and Cherry Cheney of Jackson.
Cantrell to attend SEMO on IAAP scholarship
Sheila Cantrell of Advance, Mo., has been awarded the International Association of Administrative Professionals' fall 2004 scholarship. Cantrell will attend Southeast Missouri State University this fall, where she is a senior majoring in administrative systems management. She is the daughter of Lonnie and Wilma Stubenrauch.
Scholarship, leadership award go to Cape student
Varonnica Murphy of Cape Girardeau has received the President's Scholarship and Missouri Leadership Award to Southeast Missouri State University. Murphy is a 2004 graduate of Central High School. She is the daughter of Ronn and Sandra Murphy.
Statler gets first place award in poster contest
Dylan Statler recently received a first-place award in a Freeway drug-free poster contest during a ceremony in Jefferson City. Statler is a fourth-grader at Meadow Heights Elementary and is the son of Carla and Mark Statler. As part of the award, Statler received a $50 prize.
Notre Dame graduate gets Walton scholarship
Brendan McMeel of Cape Girardeau has received a Sam Walton Community Scholarship. McMeel is a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. He plans to attended the University of Notre Dame this fall and major in civil engineering.

Cape student graduates from Union University
Sarah Belcher of Cape Girardeau recently graduated from Union University in Jackson, Tenn. Belcher received a bachelor's degree in digital media studies. She is a graduate of Central High School and is the daughter of Gary and Sue Belcher.
Jansen named to dean's list at DeVry in KC
Ashley Jansen of Leopold, Mo., was named to the 2004 spring semester dean's list at DeVry University's Kansas City campus.
Nursing college graduates several local students
The following local students recently completed programs at Southeast Missouri Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Cape Girardeau -- Stacia Ledbetter, Valerie Stanley, Juliann Hall and Blaire Hargens completed the radiologic technology program. Hargens also received the Tom Welch Clinical Excellence Award. Gabriel Bragg completed the surgical technology program.
Dustin Mattison, Gary Lewis, LeeAnn Golden, Mark Merritt, Eric Yount, Lucia Kozlovska and David Mikko received associate's degrees in nursing. Merritt received the Outstanding Performance in Pediatric Nursing Award and Kozlovska received the Professional Growth Award.
Mikko received the Outstanding Graduate Nurse Award and the Delmar A. Cobble Outstanding Student Award.
McClure, Ill. -- Kelley Matlock received the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and the Outstanding Performance in Patient Care Management Award.
