Birk receives Academic Achievement Award

Heather Birk, daughter of Ralph and Diane Birk of Jackson, has received an Academic Achievement Award to attend Maryville University in St. Louis.

Dean's lists

• Alexandra Wieser of Cape Girardeau, daughter of Rick and Judy Wieser; and Deana McCormick of Jackson, daughter of Marianne and Dean McCormick, were named to the spring dean's list at Quincy University in Illinois.
• Jan Eftink, daughter of John and Claret Eftink of Chaffee, was named to the chancellor's honor roll at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss.

* Amber Barkley, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Billy Barkley of Cape Girardeau, and Joseph Walter, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Walter of Jackson, were named to the dean's list for the spring 2005 semester at Washington University in St. Louis.

Scholarships

The following local students recently received scholarships:

* Central High School graduate Jennifer Lynn Pancoast has been awarded the George Beadle Scholarship to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

* Jennifer Sexton, daughter of Kevin and Crystal Sexton of Cape Girardeau, received a President's Plus Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2005-2006 academic year.

* Brandon Kremer, son of Richard and Linda Kremer of Jackson, received a President's Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2005-2006 academic year.
