Dietz garners President's Scholarship at Southeast

Kara Dietz of Jackson has been awarded a President's Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2004-2005 academic year. She is the daughter of Drew and Melinda Dietz of Jackson.

Alma Schrader students write letters about bats

Alma Schrader second-graders recently completed a letter-to-the-editor project under the direction of Southeast Missouri State University education student Jeanna Schweigert. The students learned about bats and wrote letters explaining how beneficial they are in spreading seeds.

PATTON, Mo. -- Students of the month for November at Meadow Heights High School were: Josef Broen, Desera Abernathy, Trisha Hanners, Jerry Wagner, Evan Kamp and Blake Cook.

Michael Yetman, a sophomore at Scott City High School, has been selected to participate in the Missouri Leadership Seminar Inc. Yetman is the son of James and Becki Yetman of Scott City and participates in science club, speech team and football.

Local students receive Kansas State awards

Two local students received scholarships to Kansas State University for the 2003-04 school year. Jean Elizabeth Stoverink of Cape Girardeau received the Betty and George Jenkins Memorial Scholarship. Katie Beth Martin of Perryville received the David L. and Diane M. Grubbs Scholarship.
