Marketing major gets O'Day scholarship
Zach Miller, a junior marketing major at Quincy University in Quincy, Ill., has received the Walter "Wally" O'Day Memorial Scholarship for the 2001-02 school year.
Miller is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mitch Miller of Cape Girardeau.
Senior gets SEMO Regents' Scholarship
Eric Busby of Cape Girardeau has been awarded a Regents' Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2002-03 academic year.
Busby is a senior at Central High School and son of Michael and Merrie Busby.
The Regents' Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have achieved an ACT composite score of 27 or SAT score of 1220, attained a 3.5 grade-point average or graduated in the top 10 percent of their class.
Cape alumna inducted into Wilson Fellows
Mary Riding of Cape Girardeau was inducted into the Wilson Fellows, a special interest chapter of Arkansas State University's Alumni Association.
Riding was the 1940 Wilson award winner. On Sept. 22, the former Wilson Award winners were invited back to the camps to take part in the reunion, concluding with the establishment of the Wilson Fellows chapter.
ACT assessment coming up in February
College-bound high school students can take the ACT assessment Feb. 9. The registration postmark deadline is Jan. 4. Late registration postmark deadline is Jan. 18.

Shawnee trustee on nominating committee
Shawnee Community College trustee Don E. Patton of Cairo, Ill., has been appointed chair of the Illinois Community College Trustees Association's Nominating Committee. His one-year term will end on June 30.
Patton will oversee the recruitment and recommendation of eligible candidates for ICCTA president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
