Marching Tigers take part in band competition
The Central High School Marching Tigers recently competed in a band competition in Farmington, Mo. A total of 10 bands competed in the gold division against Central. The school's drum majors placed first in their category, and the band placed fifth.
Thiele accepted into Mizzou medical school
Fallan Thiele of Jackson was recently accepted into the Bryant Scholars pre-admission program at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The program allows her to be accepted into the university's medical school as a sophomore. Thiele is the daughter of Edwin and Doris Thiele of Jackson and the granddaughter of Edwin and Evelyn Thiele and Doris McCall of Glenallen, Mo.
Area student gets $2,500 scholarship
Bonan Wang of Cape Girardeau recently received a $2,500 scholarship from Who's Who Among American High School students. Wang is a 2004 graduate of Central High School and currently attends the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. She is one of 201 students selected for the award.

Meadow Heights School District students of the month for August and September were:

September -- Heather Thorne, Tyler Sander, Monica Welker, Emily Lindsay, Casey Walka and Rusty Lema.
