Jackson choir students make all-district group; Cape students take part in research program; Bell represents area on MASA exec committee

Hileman attends music and dance workshop

Heather Hileman, a sophomore at Jackson High School, participated in a five-day music and dance workshop for girls in grades nine through 11 at Cotty College in Nevada, Mo. Students from 15 states attended. Hileman took classes from Cotty professors.

Jackson choir students make all-district group

Jackson High School's choral department participated in the Southeast All-District Choir Auditions Sept. 24 at Central High School. Out of 32 11th- and 12th-graders, 30 made the choir and out of 52 ninth- and 10th-graders, 32 made the choir for an all-time high of 62 students from Jackson to participate in the Southeast All-District Choir.

Cape students take part in research program

David Kiblinger and Nina McCrate, both of Cape Girardeau, participated in 10 weeks of research in the Next Step and Mathematical Biological Initiative's summer research program at Truman State University. The program seeks to increase the number of students who complete a baccalaureate degree in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines. Kiblinger is the son of Mark and Debbie Kiblinger. McCrate is the daughter of Alice and Matthew McCrate.

Bell represents area on MASA exec committee

Superintendent of Chaffee School District Dr. Arnold Bell is serving as the Southeast representative on the executive committee for the Missouri Association of School Administrators for the 2005-2006 school year. Bell's colleagues selected him to represent Southeast Missouri.
