MVC dean's list includes two area students
Andrew L. Obermann of Chaffee, Mo., and Talitha Hoffstetter of Gordonville were recently named to the Missouri Valley College dean's list for the fall 2003 semester. Missouri Valley College is a private liberal arts school in Marshall, Mo.
Local students among winners of poster contest
Several local students were among the winners of the 2003 Western Catholic Union Christmas Poster and Essay Contest. In the poster contest for fourth through sixth grades, Allison Ernst, a sixth grader at St. Vincent Elementary in Perryville, Mo., took first place and Anna Esswein, a fifth-grader from St. Vincent, took third place. In the essay contest for fourth through sixth grades, Hannah DeWilde, a fifth-grader from St. Vincent, took second place. More than 600 entries were received from 17 different schools in Missouri and Illinois. First-place winner received $50, second place received $30 and third received $20.
Area students make Northwest honor rolls
Three local students recently were named to academic and president's honor rolls for the fall 2003 semester at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. Nathan Bell of Jackson and Summer Raines of Marble Hill, Mo., were on the academic honor roll for maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA. Stephanie Schumer of Perryville, Mo., was on the president's honor roll for maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
