Deidre Jewel of Cape Girardeau was elected to serve as a first year law student representative for the Student Bar Association at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Jewel was one of two representatives elected from the 159 student in the first year class.

The association acts as a liaison between the faculty and law students, plans all social and sporting activities involving law students and alumni, organizes philanthropic events, and helps implement policy regarding student conduct and use of facility.

Jewel is also a member of the Women's Law Association at the university.

She is a May 1992 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, where she received a degree in political science with a minor in economics. She is the daughter of Don and Dolly Jewel of Cape Girardeau.
