Lane restrictions planned on Cairo bridge

CAIRO, Ill. -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane on the U.S. 51 Ohio River Bridge, also known as the Cairo Bridge, between Wickliffe, Ky., and Cairo from 1 to 3 p.m. today.

The lane restriction is to allow engineers to plan a future maintenance project on the bridge.

The cabinet urges motorists to watch out for equipment, flaggers and inspection personnel on the bridge deck close to traffic flow.

They said traffic delays should be minimal, generally less than 3 minutes.
