The city of Cape Girardeau asks motorists to be cautious as they travel on Lexington Avenue this week.

The eastbound lane of Lexington Avenue near Stevens Drive was shut down Wednesday morning for road work. Heat caused the need for "urgent repair," the city said.

Eastbound traffic must yield to oncoming traffic. Westbound traffic should not be disrupted.

Construction should last three to five days, weather permitting.
