FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The state's cooperative that sells farm-raised catfish has reeled in its single largest order from the country's biggest supermarket chain, state Department of Agriculture officials said.

Kroger Co. ordered 84,000 pounds of catfish to coincide with the observance of Lent, said Bob Zumwalt, general manager of the Purchase Area Aquaculture Cooperative in Graves County.

The fish are available in Kroger supermarkets and other retail outlets in Kentucky, Tennessee, Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.
