STE. GENEVIEVE -- The annual Ste. Genevieve King's Ball will be held Feb. 3 at the VFW Hall. It will begin at 8 p.m.
The pre-Lenten festival is a 250-year tradition here. Area men are treated to a piece of "Galette des Rois," or king's cake. The man who finds a special bean hidden in the cake becomes the king.
The newly crowned king then selects his queen and a trumpet fanfare announces their coronation.
Tickets for the King's Ball are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Children's tickets are $5.
