Kind kids at Lyncare
Linda Caldwell reported that children at Lyncare, an after-school ministry at Lynwood Baptist Church drew names for kindness buddies this week. The children also wrote notes to parents and made kindness fliers with scripture verses on them.
Baking with kindness
Regina Hefner, a sophomore at Delta High School, made cookies for her cousin Amanda McDaniel and friend Aaron Althenthal to take on their senior trip. It provided a real taste of home while they were away from home.
Kind neighbors
Clement and Irene Birk of Cape Girardeau say their good neighbors Tom and Dena Nelson help them in many ways. They also praised George and Germaine Davis, who take care of their mail and anything else needed when they are gone. "We really appreciate our kind neighbors," said the Birks.
Police kindness
Marilyn McClure, a social worker, went to visit an elderly client and found the Cape Girardeau police at the home. The woman had called to report she was without food. After coming to check on her, Officer Dan Seger cooked the woman a meal, including fish sticks and macaroni and cheese, McClure said. "I think he went beyond the call," she said.
Sewing with kindness
Wanda Fitzpatrick thanked Mary Burton of the Red Cross for giving sewing fabric to the Sewing Ladies of Bethany Baptist Church. The fabric was used to make bed covers and toys. Some went to the Baptist Children's Home in East Prairie. The rest went to needy families in Cape Girardeau.
A new ramp
Zola Eldridge, 90, thanked Norman and June Eldridge who built her a ramp so she can get out of the house with her wheelchair. "That was very dear and kind of them," she said.
Thanks to dentist
Janis Ticer thanked a local dentist who forgave her son's dental bill when he joined the Marine Corps. "It was a very generous gift and greatly appreciated," she said.
A kind act
Katherine King reported that when she was leaving Cape Girardeau recently, she suffered a dizzy spell and pulled into County Park North. A driver heading south toward Cape noticed her trouble and came to her assistance. It was her mail carrier at Jackson, Kevin Cracraft. He offered her his cell phone and stayed with her until she felt well enough to go on.
Thanks for snacks
Herice Loraine McClinton, owner of Precious Time Day Care, thanked Tamara Zellars Buck and her sister, Clarissa Zellars, for donating snacks, treats and gifts to the children at the day-care center.
Kindness reported
Bernice Corr-Cobb called to thank her friend and mother-in-law, Helen Sterling, for the kind things she does.
Tip of the helmet
Rose City Motors in Cape Girardeau donated 10 bike helmets to the Safe Kids Coalition.
