Kinder receives recognition for support of agriculture

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. -- Senate President Pro Tem Peter Kinder received the Missouri Farm Bureau's highest award Monday at the group's annual convention in Lake of the Ozarks.

The Outstanding Service to Agriculture award goes to the person who provides the most support to Missouri agriculture. Missouri Farm Bureau president Charles Kruse said Kinder met that requirement while in office, with Missourians seeing legislation curtailing livestock price discrimination and expanding agricultural possibilities, including ethanol-based gasoline production.

Kinder said he will continue to champion "Missouri's rural economy, products and way of life" in his last year in the Senate and any role he may have in the future.
