State Sen. Peter Kinder and Democratic challenger Rick Althaus will debate each other six times, beginning Tuesday.

There will a debate in each of the six counties that make up the 27th Senate District. Those counties are Cape Girardeau, Scott, Bollinger, Perry, Mississippi and Madison.

The candidates both live in Cape Girardeau. Their campaign offices jointly announced the public debates.

All of the debates begin at 7 p.m.

The candidates will debate Tuesday at the Clara Drinkwater Newnam School auditorium at Charleston, Aug. 22 at the Sikeston Public Library, Aug. 28 at the American Legion Hall in Perryville, Sept. 4 at the Madison County Senior Citizens Community Center at Fredericktown, Sept. 16 at the Mercantile Bank Community Room at Marble Hill and Oct. 3 in the Southeast Missouri State University Ballroom at Cape Girardeau.

Kinder, a Republican, is seeking re-election to a second term. Althaus is his Democratic challenger.
