After five years in the Kennett School District, Superintendent Jerry Noble turned in his resignation to the Board of Education during the executive session of the board's meeting on Tuesday.

According to Noble, his resignation will take effect at the end of the 2009-2010 school year.

Noble said he is also retiring from the education system in the state of Missouri.

"I've really enjoyed my five years here at Kennett," Noble said. "It has been challenging, but rewarding. It just kind of wears on you and sometimes, you just have to make a change. So that is what I am looking to do."

Noble said he has not applied anywhere, and is not sure what he will do next.

"I don't know yet if I want to apply anywhere else or not," he said. "I'm just going to take my time and decide what I want to do.

"I want to thank the patron of the school district for all of their support, especially with the help of getting the school out of financial difficulty."

Also during executive session, the board accepted the resignation of Kennett Middle School Remedial Reading teacher Janet Scherer and approved a donation of sick days for Rayanna Dalton and Katie Porterfield.

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, the board announced a closed session meeting will be held at 5 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
