KENNETT, Mo. -- A Kennett man who was recently arrested on a warrant may face additional charges in connection with a rash of burglaries.
The Kennett Police Department and agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on Friday served a federal search warrant on a home in the 300 block of South Vandeventer Street.
Officers arrested 31-year-old Nicholas J. McIntee of Kennett on a previously issued Dunklin County warrant for burglary and felony stealing. Investigators also are seeking additional federal charges against McIntee in connection with a rash of burglaries and vehicle break-ins around town.
On Tuesday, McIntee is scheduled to appear before 35th Circuit Court Judge John Spielman at the Dunklin County Courthouse.
During Friday's search, officers seized a loaded pistol, an undisclosed amount of controlled substance and other evidence.
Given the many break-ins in recent weeks, residents are encouraged to keep their doors and windows locked at all times and to keep homes well-lit at night. The Kennett Police Department has added more night patrols, with officers working extra hours and off-duty shifts in an effort to prevent further break-ins.
Anyone who notices suspicious activity or strange vehicles in their neighborhood is asked to call the department at 573-888-4622.
