KENNETT, Mo. -- A 47-year-old Kennett was being held Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident following an investigation surrounding a shattered light post at the corner of Kennett and Second Streets.
According to Assistant Police Chief Steve Williams, the Kennett Police Department received a call about the incident at approximately 7:19 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 11.
"Evidently, he hit the pole and left the scene," Williams said.
After investigating the accident, the subject, who has yet to be named by police, was later located at a residence on Route EE in Kennett.
After failing a field sobriety test, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
He was transported to the Dunklin County Jail, where he awaits the filing of formal charges by Judge Michael Mowrer.
