KELSO -- Voters here and those living in an area proposed for annexation by Kelso overwhelmingly approved the proposal in separate elections Tuesday, reported Scott County Clerk Bob Kielhofner.

The vote within the Kelso limits was 77-0 and the vote in the area proposed for annexation was 26-1, said Kielhofner. Simple majorities were needed for the annexation, he said.

As a result, Cedar Hills Nos. 2 and 3 subdivisions will be annexed. The subdivisions contain 47 acres northwest of Kelso.

There are 301 registered voters in Kelso and 36 in the area to be annexed, Kielhofner said.
