The Keep Cape Beautiful Beautification Committee has organized a fall cleanup for Saturday and is looking for volunteers.
Anyone interested in helping clean up downtown Cape Girardeau should gather at 9 a.m. at the Boardman Pavilion near the intersection of Main and Independence streets.
Volunteers will work together on litter and debris removal, graffiti removal along the river walk, "sprucing up" landscaping and other items, a news release from the city stated. Each volunteer should bring work gloves and water; other necessary items will be provided. Work will take place from 9 to 11 a.m.
The event is scheduled "just in time for Southeast Missouri State University's homecoming week, where an influx of visitors to the campus and downtown are anticipated during this yearly event," the news release stated.
More information is available by contacting the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department at (573) 339-6340.
