JUNEFEST ACTIVITIES INCLUDE PAGEANT, CRAFTS

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce will host several events in conjunction with Junefest, June 16-20.

Junefest is the former Annual Springfest, with all its activities moved to the Kingsway Mall.

A beauty pageant is scheduled for June 16 to select this year's Ms. Junefest. The Sikeston Chamber invites area girls ages 14-18 to participate in the pageant which will begin at 6:30 p.m. at center stage of the mall.

Sunday dress is preferred and entry forms with a $15 entry fee are due June 9. Entry forms are available at Splendor, Klothes 2 You and Shoe City U.S.A. in the mall.

A craft show will be held June 17-20. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Junefest also will feature a lip-sync contest June 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the mall's center stage. Solo and group acts will be judged on lip-syncing ability and costume originality.

All performers must submit a cassette tape of the song to be performed along with a $15 registration fee and entry form. The fee and entry form are due June 9. Tapes will be returned after the contest. The first place prize is $100.
