Three nationally known speakers will reach out to those who want to manage their lives successfully, be more optimistic and cope with stress, organizers of the 12th annual Community Caring Conference say.
The event is scheduled from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday at Southeast Missouri State University Center. It is titled "Juggling Life Successfully" and costs $60 per person, which includes lunch. Full-time students may pay only $30 with a copy of their school transcript.
The Community Caring Council is organizing the event. Tom Davisson, the council's executive director, said anyone involved in community service or anyone who wants to be should not miss the event.
"They will take away the perspective that local folks have the ability to get things done," he said.
Featured speakers are motivational lecturer Ken Davis, author Peter Jenkins, who wrote "Walk Across America," and Karen Kolberg. There also will be tables set up for organizations to display materials.
The Community Caring Council is an organization of human service professionals and other interested individuals who have come together to better serve the community. They promote coordination and cooperation among service providers, churches, the business community and the educational system.
The conference is co-sponsored by Community 2000, a community-based program which focuses on Missouri's alcohol- and drug-abuse resources.
