LESTERVILLE, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Natural Resources announced today that Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park near Lesterville will be open to swimmers again this summer.
The shut-ins area will officially open for public swimming at 8 a.m. June 26 and remain open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Aug. 24. The shut-ins area and the store are the only areas of the park that will open for the summer. Visitors will be able to visit the store from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
All other areas of the park will remained closed because they are still construction zones, and no camping will be available. Construction continues following the breach of the nearby Taum Sauk Reservoir, which flooded the park Dec. 14, 2005.
