Johnson named interim dean of business college at Southeast

The associate dean of the college of business at Southeast Missouri State University has been named the interim dean of the college, according to a news release from the university.

Gary Johnson has been associate dean of the Harrison College of Business since 2006, according to the release. He takes over for Gerald McDougall, who died suddenly of natural causes March 5. Johnson previously served as interim dean of Harrison College when McDougall served as interim provost, according to the release.

Southeast is holding a nationwide search to find a permanent dean.

Johnson has served as chairman of the board of the Missouri Society of CPAs, president of the Southeast chapter of the Missouri Society of CPAs, president of the Missouri Association of Accounting Educators and president of the North American Accounting Society, according to the release. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Missouri Society of CPAs and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Arkansas and an MBA from Missouri State University.
