The graduating class displayed a strong academic and athletic record, receiving some $29,500 in local scholarships and some $1,165,000 overall.

The 1999 valedictorian was Chrissi Glastetter. Jennifer Horst earned salutatorian honors.

Plans had been in flux for the commencement. The rain location had been changed from the JHS gymnasium to the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. Rumors circulated last week that the ceremony might be moved to the Show Me Center, regardless of weather.
