Some 300 couples celebrated a special night May 6, at the 2000 Jackson High School Senior Prom.

"Unforgettable" was the theme of the prom, which went without incident, according to Principal Rick McClard.

"About 630 students attended and we had no problems at all," said Rick McClard, JHS principal. "We had a great time. It was just hot. It got warm, a little crowded, but it was an excellent prom. The kids had a blast."

Julie Wunderlich and Adam Wachter were crowned queen and king of the prom, to cap the evening. Wunderlich is the daughter of Carey and Susan Wunderlich. Wachter is the son of Rodney and Barb Wachter.

First runners-up were Janice Doberenz and Ghaffer Glenn. Amanda Crouch and Josh Pfefferkorn were second runners-up, while Valerie Harter and Adam Sherinski were third runners-up and Emily Unverferth and Andy Conklin fourth runners-up. Also in the ceremony were Kelsey Fink and Bobby Clark.

The evening, in the steaming old gym, featured duets by several JHS couples, as well as DJ work provided by Manassa Sound.

School will wrap up this week, with baccalaureate tonight at 7 p.m., in the gym and graduation at 7 p.m. Friday in the football stadium. (In case of bad weather, it will be 7 p.m. Saturday in the stadium.)

A senior breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday and an all-night senior party will be held, following baccalaureate.
