MARBLE HILL -- Rod Jetton, Bollinger County commissioner, recently attended the first-ever seminar on rural and agriculture issues sponsored by the Missouri Farm Bureau.
Jetton, who lives in Marble Hill, is a candidate for the 156th district state representative seat. He also owns Jetton James Real Estate Company.
The seminar was designed to inform candidates running for office about the issues affecting rural Missourians. It was open to all candidates running for a statewide office.
Topics included transportation, property rights, agriculture and taxes. Candidates were allowed time to ask questions on each topic.
Jetton said the most important issues discussed were consolidation of Missouri agriculture, abandoning the 15-year highway plan and taxes. "After learning more I feel even stronger about our need to cut taxes, finish the 15-year plan and help farmers keep more of what they sell," he said.
Jetton has been a Farm Bureau member for years and thinks the organization works for farming families across the state. "I know the issues they are working on will be good for the residents in the 156th district and I think it was a great idea to have the seminar."
Jetton was one of 90 people who attended the seminar in Jefferson City.
