Cape Girardeau Jaycees plan to raise money to purchase bullet-proof vests for the Cape Girardeau Police Department again this year.
Teresa Kuss, fund drive chairperson, said this is the third such fund drive conducted by the Jaycees since 1981. Money will be turned over to the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), whose members will purchase the vests.
FOP President Eddy James said: "We would like to see all the officers within the community be able to take advantage of the enormous benefits offered by the vests."
Anyone interested in donating to the drive should call the Jaycees at 334-0416 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
