JANUARY IS NATIONAL VOLUNTEER BLOOD DONOR MONTH

To express appreciation for those who donate blood, the American Red Cross is celebrating January as National Volunteer Blood Donor Month. This national effort recognizes the more than 12 million people who give blood.

Donors are asked to celebrate the special time by giving blood now. All types are needed, but type O is particularly low. The next drive will be Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Cape Girardeau.

Sponsored by AmeriFirst Bank, the drive will feature refreshments and give-aways, including T-shirts and mugs.
