A Jackson wedding planner is in the Cape Girardeau County Jail on charges that he used customer credit cards to make personal purchases, Lt. David James of the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

Mike Erzfeld of Jackson operated Custom Events out of his home at 1384 Greenleaf Ave. and was arrested after an investigation that began when customers became suspicious. A search of his home last Wednesday recovered a large amount of merchandise that is believed to have been purchased with customer credit cards, James said.

Erzfeld currently faces a single count of fraudulent use of a credit device, a Class D felony and is being held on $5,000 cash-only bond. Sheriff's investigators are preparing requests for five additional charges, James said.

"We are kind of wanting to get the word out because this guy has weddings planned up through the summer and he is in jail," James said.
