The Jackson Lady Indian Tennis Team has lost five players from last year's 12-2 district runner-up team, but can look forward to a promising season as long as the team improves on their mental game.

The team is (RECORD AS OF FRIDAY MORNING) so far this season.

Coach Linda Adams in her second year is working on the team playing as a team.

"I can't stress enough how important it is to be a cohesive team. That is very important in tennis," Adams said.

"I'm looking to work on their mental toughness," she added.

Adams said that this year's squad has the skills to be successful as long as they can keep focused on the point they are playing.

Adams said that the team's goal is to play the best they can on every point and every game.

"That comes with being mentally tough," Adams added.

This year's team has the talent to go a long way, but only two return from last year's team.

"Lynn Casteel is a very dedicated player. She is a good overall player," Adams said of her top ranked player.

She has a lot of focus, she works well under pressure. Casteel, junior, is currently (????) in her singles matches. She is one of two returning varsity players from last year.

The number two ranked player is Sarah Culbertson, junior, she returns froms last year's team.

"She has a lot of athletic ability. She is very quick, she can get to anything," Adams said.

Culbertson has a (????) record in her singles matches so far this season.

"I depend on Lynn and Sarah to keep the team together," Adams added.

Lauren Young is currently ranked third on the team in singles play.

A junior, Young is a very consistent player. She'll do anything she is asked, Adams said.

"She's a good volley player. She plays good at the net because of her angled volleys."

Young is currently (???) in her singles matches.

Robyn Davis is ranked fourth on the team and is a senior.

"Robyn has one of the fastest serves on the team. She needs to work more on her footwork. She'll do anything she is asked to do," Adams said.

Davis is currently (????) in her singles matches.

Beth Roethemeyer, senior, is ranked fifth on the team.

Adams said that she has the best footwork on the team. Roethemeyer likes to go to the net.

"She's the inspiration of the team."

Roethemeyer is currently (???) in her singles matches.

Beth Lefebvre, junior, is the most improved player from last year, according to Adams. she is ranked sixth.

She is currently (???) in her singles matches this season.

Adams said that Christy Cobb and Jennifer Sutton, who is currently injured, could move up from the JV team to the varsity team during the season.

"If they continue to work hard and continue to improve," she added.

All the rest of the JV squad are first year players.

"Annie Lefebvre is a freshman ranked nine right now," Adams said.

The doubles matches are new to the players. Adams said that they have never played together.

Adams has changed the doubles teams around. The teams now are Casteel and Davis, Culbertson and Young and Roethemeyer and Beth Lefebvre.

Casteel and Davis are currently (???) in their doubles matches. Culbertson and Young are (???) in their doubles matches. Roethemeyer and Lefebvre are (???) in their doubles matches.

Casteel and Lefebvre were paired for one match and they lost. Roethemeyer and Davis were also paired up in a doubles match and they won.
