More than 50 contestants competed in the SEMO District Fair Queen contest Thursday evening at the R&R Tent.

Winners were chosen in six categories: Tiny Miss SEMO Fair, Little Miss SEMO Fair, Young Miss SEMO Fair, Preteen Miss SEMO Fair, Teen Miss SEMO Fair and Miss SEMO Fair.

Melody Hutson served as director of the fair pageant. She was assisted by Shari Marvel.

Miss SEMO Fair

Rhiannon Ross, 18, of Jackson was crowned Miss SEMO Fair. She is the daughter of Michael Ross and Pamela Wakeford. She will begin classes at at Southeast Missouri State University in the spring.

She won a prize package valued at $764, and will also advance to competition at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia.

First alternate was Crystal Rhodes, 17, daughter of Obed and Wanda Rhodes of Marble Hill; second alternate was Amanda Lomax, 18, daughter of Mike and Cheryl Lomax of Benton.

Teen Miss SEMO Fair

McLane Jateff, 16, won Teen Miss SEMO Fair. She is the daughter of Bruce and Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau.

First alternate was Tracy Atchley, 16, of Cape Girardeau. She is the daughter of Sharon Beussink and Gary Atchley.

Preteen Miss SEMO Fair

Ashley DeProw, 10, of Portageville was crowned Preteen Miss SEMO Fair. She is the daughter of Randy DeProw and Michelle Perrygin.

First alternate was Staci Cook, 10, daughter of Steven and Teresa Cook of Cape Girardeau.

Young Miss SEMO Fair

Katrina Atchley, 8, was crowned Young Miss SEMO Fair. She is the daughter of Elvis and Sabrina Atchley of Portageville.

First alternate was Meredith Medlin, 7, daughter of Darell and Cheri Medlin of Cape Girardeau; second alternate was Melody Emerson, 9, daughter of Joe and Robin Emerson of Oran.

Little Miss SEMO Fair

Suzanne Burke, 5, won the title of Little Miss SEMO Fair. She is the daughter of the Rev. William and Jean Ann Burke of Cape Girardeau

First alternate was Heather Beggs, 4, daughter of Cameron and Cathy Beggs of Benton; second alternate was Kasey Ogborn, 5, daughter of Derek and Lesley Ogborn of Cape Girardeau.

Tiny Miss SEMO Fair

Afton Cato, 3, of Advance, was crowned Tiny Miss SEMO Fair. She is the daughter of Brian and Tiffany Cato.

First alternate was Brittany Bedford, 3, daughter of Robert and Tonya of Dexter; second alternate was Chelsea Freeman, 2, daughter of Steve and Stacy Freeman of Essex.
