Julia Green, a senior at Jackson High School, recently attended to honors programs at Missouri universities.
She attended the 1994 Jackling Institute sponsored by the University of Missouri-Rolla. The institute is designed to introduce potential students to careers in engineering. Participants were selected on the basis of their college exam scores, academic record and school administration recommendations. She was one of 45 students selected to attend.
Green also attended the Conservation Honors Program at the University of Missouri-Columbia, for which she received one hour of college credit.
Forty-eight students from Missouri participated in the six-day outdoor workshop, which included field trips to Eagle Bluffs wildlife area, Meramac Springs trout hatchery, and a float trip on the Current River. Students also did field work in ecological sites near Columbia.
Selection was made on the basis of college test scores, high school achievements, recommendations from school administrators and a written theme.
Green is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Green of Burfordville.
