Jackson school board OKs insurance benefits

The Jackson School District received a clean opinion on an audit of finances for the 2007-2008 school year, board members learned at a meeting Tuesday. The firm Larson Allen reported no findings. At the meeting, the board also approved a renewal of dental and health insurance benefits that will go into effect in January. There will be no increase in premiums or change in benefits for the dental plan. Health insurance rates rose 9.5 percent. The district pays for the core plan for employees, but employees pay to add a spouse or children to the plan. Rates for the core plan for an employee and spouse will rise from $937 to $1,026; for an employee and children, the rates will rise from $833 to $912; for a family, the increase is from $1,249 to $1,368.�
