Both the Jackson Public Library and the Riverside Regional Library will run the 2001 Places to Go reading program this summer.
At the Jackson Public Library at 100 N. Missouri St., children who are in preschool to fifth grade may sign up for the Missouri Summer Reading Program.
By signing up, children can earn prizes for what they read between June 6 and Aug. 4.
Also, it's almost Summer Storytime time when children can join library staff members at 2:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning June 6 and ending Aug. 1. The program will be held in the third-floor community room.
Specific dates will be June 6, 13, 20, 27; July 11, 18, 25; and Aug. 1.
Activities, special guests and great reading are planned.
Register in person; adults must stay with children younger than 5.

At Riverside
At the Riverside Library at 204 S. Union, pre-readers and preschoolers can participate in the Places to Go reading program by having parents, siblings and others read to them. The disabled reader may use audio-visual aids to participate.
Children can still participate in the Summer Reading Program even if they can't come to Story Time programs, but they must register, read books, turn in reading book logs and follow the guidelines.
There is a July 24 deadline for the program.
Some incentives include certificates, food coupons, stickers, pencils, paperback reading book and bookmarks.
Incentive packets can be picked up at the library's circulation desk.
For children 9 and older, there is the Book Your Summer program that encourages young adults to read books.
The schedule of programs at the library includes children's librarian Lynn Farrow presenting the "Marvelous Mondays," "Terrific Tuesdays" and "Kids on Saturday" programs.
The Marvelous Monday program for June includes a 2 p.m. June 4 storytime on trains, a June 11 storytime on monkeys and a June 18 storytime on camping.
On June 25, a special storytime will be held at 4 p.m. when the St. Louis Science Center will present a program on dinosaurs.
The July Monday programs will be at 2 p.m. July 9 called "Movie Day," and July 16 on places "you can go!"
The June Terrific Tuesdays program, beginning at 9:30 a.m. will June 5 on trains, presented by Patsy Johnson; June 12 on camping, with the and June 19 program being a "beach party" at the city park.
July Tuesday programs include a movie day at 9:30 a.m. and a family night at 5 p.m. on July 10. On July 17, the 9:30 a.m. program will be on places to go.
Then, at 4 p.m. July 19, Keith Haddrill will present a program called "I Love to Read!"
The Kids on Saturday program is a series of programs that will be presented from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturdays during the summer for the young adults.
Children are asked to sign up for the Saturday program by calling 243-8141.
The Saturday program will touch on the topics of collage and origami on June 9, exploring science on June 30. The July 14 meeting will be a pizza party.
