The Jackson Sanitation Department will not operate its regular trash routes Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. According to a news release from Rodney Bollinger, director of Public Works, garbage that would normally be collected Dec. 25 instead will be picked up Dec. 26. Garbage normally collected Jan. 1 instead will be picked up Jan. 2. The Recycling Center also will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, the release said. The release said the city again will accept and recycle Christmas trees at a special location at the Recycling Center. Lights, ornaments and other decorations should be removed before dropping off the trees in the designated area. The trees will be placed at the bottom of Rotary Lake in Jackson City Park, benefiting the fish habitat by providing cover for small fish, the release said. For more information, call the Sanitation Department at 243-2333 or the Public Works Department at 243-2300.
