PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- A Perry County man was sentenced to six and a half years in prison Thursday for unlawful possession of firearms. Kent Flentge, 40, of St. Marys, Mo., was given a 78-month sentence for one felony count of being a convicted felon in possession of firearms. He appeared before U.S. District Judge Catherine D. Perry. Flentge was arrested Jan. 16, 2003, at his brother's residence when agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, along with the Perry County Sheriff's Department, came to the house during the course of an investigation. While the officers were there, Flentge admitted that he had moved some firearms belonging to his brother to a barn, and took the officers to the barn where the firearms were discovered. His brother is also a previously-convicted felon. Flentge was previously convicted of unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with a witness.
