Jackson will be reimbursed up to $120,888 for engineering fees as part of the city's plan to upgrade its 34.5-kilovolt power line between the substation on Wedekind Road and the power plant substation. Don Schuette, Jackson's director of electric utilities, said the engineering work by Allen & Hoshall of Memphis, Tennessee, likely will begin this week.

Jackson applied for the grant as part of the Missouri Public Energy Pool's 2015 Infrastructure Grant Program, established to promote long-term investment in local electric systems.
