Jackson Police use speed display device to slow motorists down
The Jackson City Police have acquired a speed display from the Cape Girardeau Police Dept. to use during the summer to deter speeding in the high volume speed areas around town.
Lieunt. Robert Bonney, of the Jackson Police, said, "it is a good deterrent for our high speed areas. It's good for the people to see how fast they are going in these areas."
Bonney said that when he asked for the use of the display device from the traffic division of the Cape Girardeau Police, they willingly complied.
"When we asked to use it, they were just as good as they could be," he added.
The device has gotten a lot of comments. "Most people thought it was a good idea."
"This is our first time doing it, I hope it works," Bonney said.
"We hope to use it several times a month. This is like a free warning, if it doesn't slow them down, then the next action will be a ticket," Bonney said.
