Jackson police say they are back to square one as they investigate who fired shots that broke windows at Kohlfeld Distributing on East Jackson Boulevard early on March 13.

Police spokesman Rodney Barnes said police initially thought they had an image of the vehicle from which the shots were fired, but after the photo was released to the public, they received a call from the driver of a Southeast Missourian delivery vehicle who identified the van as his. He said he was delivering newspapers when the photo was taken by security surveillance.

Barnes said police believe that whoever did fire nine rounds into the windows of the building was traveling east on East Jackson Boulevard around 3:10 a.m., although the exact time is uncertain, partly because of the recent change to daylight saving time.
