Jackson police plan to crack down on child seat belt law violations, according to a police department news release sent Wednesday. Missouri law requires all children younger than age 8, who weigh less than 80 pounds and are under 4 feet 9 inches tall, to be in a child safety seat or booster. Jackson Police Department's efforts are in conjunction with Missouri's Child Passenger Safety Week Law Enforcement Campaign from Sept. 16-22, the release said.
Lt. Scott Akers said in the release, "Regular child safety seat and safety belt use is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicles."
