Anyone with expired or unwanted prescription drugs can dispose of them later this month with no questions asked.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26, the Jackson Police Department and federal Drug Enforcement Administration will accept pills for disposal at the police and fire complex at 525 S. Hope St., the department reported in a news release Thursday.

Jackson Fire Rescue also will be on hand to inspect child safety seats and make sure they are installed properly and in good condition, the release stated.

Unused prescription drugs can lead to accidental poisoning, overdoses, theft or abuse, but disposing of them in the trash or flushing them down the toilet can create other safety hazards, the release stated.
