The admission price to the Jackson Junior High School Winter Dance, sponsored by the Noon Optimist and the Optimist Club of Jackson, was two canned food items for donation to the food pantry.
Student council members and their teacher sponsors, Kyle Mabuce and Leslie Richmond, decorated the gym and cafeteria. Council members sold refreshments at the dance to raise money for other projects.
Disc jockey Diamond Design filled the gym with music and flashing lights. Classy Chassy Country set up in the cafeteria and provided karaoke. Many students participated in a contest. First-, second- and third-place prizes were awarded by Noon Optimist Club president Judi Owens. Student council members served as judges.
The Noon Optimists contributed toward the entertainment and refreshment expenses. The Optimist Club of Jackson provided monies for sub sandwiches. Noon Optimists Bev Nelson and Lou Ann Reardon handled communication between faculty and Optimist clubs.
Nelson transported the food and table decorations to the dance. Helping where needed were Optimists Carol Horst, Mary Jane Sauer, Sue Wunderlich, Owens, Dixie Moore and Jodean Holshouser.
