A Jackson senior housing development cleared one more hurdle to completion on Monday.

During its meeting, the board of aldermen approved a resolution of support for the construction of the 48-unit apartment complex at Oak Hill Road and East Main Street. The proposed development sits on a property that was recently rezoned from a residential to commercial zone.

Though approved by the aldermen, the proposal must be decided upon by the Missouri Housing Development Commission. Hartle has submitted an application to the commission, which will vote Feb. 19 on which projects to fund.

Hartle said he is optimistic that the commission will approve the development.

"The city putting their stamp of approval is huge," Hartle said. "The commission looks on resolution of support from the city in their decision on who to award the application."

If approved by the commission, the development could be complete by August 2011. Hartle already operates four senior housing complexes in Jackson and the recently opened Schultz Senior Apartments in Cape Girardeau.
