The city of Jackson, the Jackson school district and St. Paul Lutheran School have been working together on a plan to increase the safety on West Jefferson Street in Jackson, according to a city news release.
The Board of Aldermen approved the plan and on July 16 approved ordinances to add no-parking areas, stop signs and a pick-up/drop-off lane along West Jefferson Street.
The roadway will be repainted into three lanes of traffic along Colorado and West Jefferson streets, to the intersection of West Jefferson and South Russell, with a pick-up/drop-off lane, the release stated.
Arrows, stenciling, and signs will be in place to assist motorists, and school officials have also offered their assistance.
A map of changes is at jacksonmo.org, and questions can be directed to Public Works at (573) 243-2300, online at jacksonmo.org, or on Facebook.
